The core of AurariaGO — your schedule, the map, and the Campus Assistant — runs entirely on your phone: no account, no location, no tracking. The optional Community section is different: joining it means verifying a school email, and anything you post or send is stored on our servers. This policy explains both.
1. Introduction
AurariaGO is a class schedule, campus map, and student community app for the Auraria Campus in Denver, published by VibeTemp LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). This policy describes what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. Use of the Community section is also governed by our Terms of Use & Community Rules. The app is offered for users in the United States.
2. The Core App Collects Nothing
Everything outside the Community tab works without any account and sends us no information. Your class schedule, your selected building, and your app preferences are stored only on your device, and we cannot see them. The core app does not request location services or any device sensor, contains no analytics or advertising software, and functions fully in airplane mode. Class reminders are local notifications generated on your device, and the Campus Assistant answers questions on-device using your phone's built-in language model; your questions are not sent to us.
3. The Community Section — What We Collect
If you choose to join the Community, we collect and store on our servers:
- Your school email address — used to verify you are a student at CU Denver, MSU Denver, or CCD, to sign you in, and to reach you about your account (for example a security issue or a material change to these terms). It is never shown to other users, never displayed alongside your posts, and never used for marketing.
- Your profile — your handle (the public name you pick), your school, and anything optional you add such as a profile photo, bio, or links. Your handle and profile are visible to other members.
- Content you post — events, posts, replies, hashtags, and any photos you attach, along with when you posted them. Posts on the Anonymous board are stored with the account that wrote them (see Section 4).
- Direct messages — the messages you send and receive, and who you exchanged them with (see Section 5).
- Your interactions and settings — likes, votes, RSVPs, follows, follow requests, blocks, hides, reports, feedback you submit, and the privacy settings you choose (such as a private profile or who may message you).
- Push notification tokens — if you allow notifications, a device token issued by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android) so we can deliver alerts about replies, likes, and messages. The token identifies your device to the push service, not your location or activity.
- Technical data — your IP address and request timestamps, used for rate limiting, sign-up abuse prevention, and reliability, and kept in short-lived server logs.
Browsing the Community without joining requires no account, and we collect nothing about browsers beyond the technical data above.
4. Anonymous Posts
Posts on the Anonymous boards are shown without your handle or any identity — to everyone, everywhere in the app, always. However, our server privately records which account wrote each anonymous post. That link is never displayed to other students and is never exposed through the app's interfaces. We use it only to enforce posting limits, remove abusive content, ban accounts that abuse anonymity, and comply with the law as described in Section 7. Anonymity within the app is not a guarantee of anonymity from a court order, law enforcement, or a genuine safety emergency.
5. Direct Messages
Direct messages are stored on our servers so they can be delivered and shown to both participants. They are encrypted in transit and protected by database access rules so that only the two participants can read them through the app. They are not end-to-end encrypted: as the operator we have the technical ability to access message content, and may do so only to investigate a report, enforce our Terms, or comply with the law. You can control who may message you in your privacy settings and can delete your messages in the app.
6. How We Use Information
- To operate the Community — showing your posts to other students, delivering your verification code by email, sending the notifications you opt into, and keeping feeds working.
- For safety and moderation — we aim to review reported content within 24 hours; every uploaded photo is automatically screened for prohibited content at the moment it is posted; text and handles are checked against an automated word filter; and repeated abuse leads to removal or a ban.
- To enforce our Terms, protect the rights and safety of students and the public, and detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
- To respond when you contact support, and to notify you of security incidents or material changes to these terms.
- To understand usage in aggregate (for example, daily counts of sign-ups and posts) so we can keep the service running. We do not build individual profiles of your behavior.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. Ever.
7. When We Share Information
We share personal information only in these situations:
- With other students, as you direct: your handle, profile, posts, events, replies, RSVPs, and messages are shown to the people you chose to share them with under your privacy settings.
- With service providers that process data on our behalf under contract (Section 8).
- To comply with the law — in response to a subpoena, court order, or other valid legal request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law. This can include the account behind an anonymous post.
- To protect safety — when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm to a person, including reporting credible threats to campus or local authorities.
- In a business transfer — if VibeTemp LLC is acquired, merges, or transfers AurariaGO to another operator, your information may be transferred with it, and the new operator will be bound by this policy until it notifies you of changes.
- With your consent, for anything else.
8. Service Providers
Running the Community requires a small number of processors acting on our behalf:
- Supabase (United States) — hosts our database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Resend — delivers verification-code emails to you and moderation alerts to us.
- OpenAI — performs the automated screening of uploaded photos. Images are shared with OpenAI solely to check them for prohibited content; under OpenAI's API terms this data is not used to train its models.
- Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — deliver push notifications to iOS and Android devices respectively, if you enable them. Firebase Cloud Messaging is included in the Android app only for message delivery; we do not use Firebase analytics or advertising features.
Photos you attach to posts and events are stored at web addresses that are not listed anywhere but can be opened by anyone who has the address. Treat any photo you post as public.
Apple and Google may independently collect download and crash information through their app stores under their own privacy policies; we receive only anonymous, aggregate download counts.
9. What We Never Do
- No selling or renting of personal information, to anyone, for any reason.
- No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- No location tracking — the app never requests location access.
- No reading of your contacts, photos library (beyond the single photo you explicitly attach), or anything else on your device.
- No biometric data — the app does not use Face ID, fingerprints, or face recognition of any kind, and photo screening does not identify people.
- No marketing email or text messages. The only emails we send are the sign-in code you request and notices about your account.
- No cookies or trackers on aurariago.com. The website is static pages; our hosting provider keeps routine access logs.
10. Your Choices
- Privacy settings. In the Community you can make your profile private, limit who can message you, and control who sees your posts and RSVPs.
- Notifications. Push notifications are optional and controlled in your device's settings; turning them off deletes nothing else.
- Edit and delete. You can edit or delete your posts, replies, events, messages, and profile details at any time in the app.
- Delete your account. Community › account icon › "Delete account and my posts" (Section 11). If you can't reach the app, request deletion by email as described at aurariago.com/delete-account.html.
- Access or questions. Email us and we will tell you what we hold about your account, correct it, or delete it. We may ask you to confirm the request from your school email address.
11. Retention and Deletion
You can delete any of your posts, replies, events, or messages at any time in the app; attached photos are deleted from our storage at the same time. Deleting your entire Community account immediately removes your email, handle, profile, posts, photos, messages, follows, votes, and device tokens from our live systems.
We also delete some data automatically:
- Photos attached to events are removed 90 days after the event date.
- In-app notification records are removed after 90 days once read, and after 180 days regardless.
- Uploaded photos that never got attached to a post are removed within a day.
Some information persists after deletion:
- Residual copies in our hosting provider's routine backups are purged on their standard cycle.
- Content removed for rule violations may leave behind a minimal moderation record (the report, the content in question, and what was done about it) so we can enforce bans and respond to legal requests.
- Reports generate an alert email to our moderation inbox that includes the reported content; those emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the report and any follow-up.
- Content you sent to other users, such as a direct message or reply, may remain visible to them after you delete your account only where they hold their own copy; we remove our copies.
- Information we are required to keep by law, or that is reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal claims.
Everything stored on your device (your schedule, preferences) is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall AurariaGO.
12. Children's Privacy
AurariaGO is intended for college students. The Community requires a verified student email address and, under our Terms, users must be at least 13 years old; users under 18 must have a parent or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
All communication with our servers is encrypted in transit. Server-side, access to data is restricted with row-level security — for example, the link between an anonymous post and its author is never exposed through the app's interfaces. Your on-device data is protected by your device's own passcode and storage encryption. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information. If we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by Colorado law.
14. Campus Affiliation
AurariaGO is an independent, student-built app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Auraria Higher Education Center, the University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, or the Community College of Denver. Campus information in the app is compiled from publicly available sources and may change; verify anything time-sensitive with the campus directly.
15. Cookies and Data Stored on Your Device
Neither aurariago.com nor the apps set cookies, and neither uses analytics, advertising, or tracking technology. The website keeps a single session-storage flag so a phone isn't sent to the app store twice in one visit; the apps keep your schedule, settings, sign-in session, hidden posts, and a cache of what you've already loaded on the device so they work quickly and offline. All of it is strictly necessary, so no consent banner is shown. The full list is in our Cookie Policy.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above; for material changes we will also notify Community members in the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means the updated policy applies.
